Née le 22 octobre 1960 en Amersfoort, Pays-Bas

Les sculptures de Carolein Smit possèdent un pouvoir de séduction hallucinant . Néanmoins ses œuvres sont aussi douloureuses et convoquent une violence crue qui, à la manière des vanités et des écorchés, met en contrepoint décharnement ou plaies ouvertes et ostentation, luxuriance et vacuité
